Youth Centre Drop-In
Focused on mentorship, cultural experiences, and life skills for youth in our community. Through this program we are able to offer Youth and Young Adults a safe and supportive place to learn, grow, and have fun.
We also work with the Lac la Biche County FCSS to offer programs to all the kids in the community.
Youth Centre
Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday’s during the school year the Youth Centre is open to all youth in the community from 4:00pm-8:00pm. All youth are required to fill out an intake form on the first day they attend, this is to ensure our staff are able to keep track of numbers, and ensure all youth are taken care of.
Activities vary based on the day of the week, and the time of year, as a group we regularly visit the Stuart MacPherson Public Library, and the Portage Pool.
Part of our program mandate is to ensure that all participants feel safe and happy, a huge part of this is food; everyday the Youth Centre is open we provide participants with healthy snacks or meals along with spaces to share and talk. Every week is different, but no matter what you do, know this is a safe and welcoming place for all kids.
Trips and Events
In the past youth have attended hoop dancing classes, taken trips to Edmonton on no school fridays, and even gone as far as Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump! All trips require a permission form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Costs are covered by the Centre, the only thing participants need to bring is spending money if they would like to buy themselves a souvenir.
Mentorship
Youth Centre staff also work with local schools, offering mentorship and support programs for students. Students who wish to be a part of these programs should ask their teachers to see if we work in their school.
