THE BLANKET EXERCISE
The KAIROS Blanket Exercise program is a unique, interactive and participatory history lesson developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers and educators.
Developed in response to the Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples in 1996 –which recommended education about Canadian-Indigenous history as one of the key steps to reconciliation — the KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) covers more than 500 years in a 90-minute experiential workshop that aims to foster understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Goal:
The Blanket Exercise is based on using Indigenous methodologies and the goal is to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance.
Objectives:
- To experience Indigenous peoples rights history
- To gain knowledge of Indigenous peoples pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance

Group Numbers:
The Blanket Exercise works best with anywhere between 15 and 60 people.
Time Required:
Minimum of 3 hours to complete
Cost: $500.00 plus expenses
